Individual Power In Action Project Artifacts 

Survey (2)—Before and After

·       10 questions

·       2 formats—one for each

·       Written explanation for your choice(s) for each format, what you hope to accomplish (1 paragraph each)

·       Distributed and collected to the class where you present information

·       Typed answers to research questions

·       Typed reflection (1 page): How difficult was it to create the questions? To decide on the type of information that you wanted to illicit from people? Did you get the results that you thought you would? What were the differences between the “before” and “after” surveys? Why do you think that is—what affected it? What would you change? Did the survey accomplish what you intended?

Petition

·       Create one petition to use in two different places—1) with people in your presentation and 2) with random people on the street

·       Goal is to get the people from your presentation to sign it and to get 75 random people to sign the other petition

·       Typed answers to research questions

·       Typed Reflection (1 page): How difficult was it to create the writing on the petition? What was it like trying to get people to sign? What did you learn from this experience?  Do you find this to be a useful tool and why?

Letter to President (1 per person in group)

·       Each person in group must write a letter  (typed)

·       Typed answers to research questions

·       Typed reflection (1 page): How difficult was it to write the letter? What are you hoping to achieve? How might you utilize this technique within a larger campaign? How would you plan to collect letters?

Flyer

·       Create 3 flyers utilizing three different persuasive techniques

·       On the back of each flyer, include the instructions about how and where to send a letter to the President on the topic

·       Spend 2 hours handing out flyers in different places (minimum of 100 flyers)

·       Use flyer in your class presentation

·       Typed answers to research questions

·       Typed reflection (1 page): How difficult was it to create the different flyers? To intentionally include the different persuasive techniques? How did you feel about the experience of passing out the flyers and talking to people?

Social Media

·       Create one page to represent your cause (you choose the one you believe will be most effective for your purpose)

·       Must include: images, information, ability to contact your “group”, ability to have some form of communication between different people, other resources

·       Typed reflection (1 page): Why did you choose the social media that you did? Did you get the results that you planned? What changes would you make? How difficult did you find this task? How difficult was it to include persuasive techniques?

PowerPoint Presentation:

·       PowerPoint created to use within the context of your presentation to class

·       Slides include visuals and talking points (NOT for reading)—Must have an intro slide and a closing slide with contact info, along with a reference slide showing your citations , and one for references for students to go to for more information

·       Typed answers to research questions

·       Typed reflection (1 page): How difficult was it to create slides? How did you decide what information to include on the slides? Images? What was the overall  experience like of giving a presentation using a PowerPoint?
